Proposal (a Mediator Novella) – Meg Cabot

I have always enjoyed reading Meg Cabot books. But what the heck this book was only 73 pages, I mean that is shorter than a short story.

I could not find any other books to the series, and I am assuming that there are other books…so I definitely felt I was starting int he middle of the story without all the information.

Meg Cabot is definitely a talented writer and is able to paint a picture with words.

And because I was unable to find the other books, I feel frustrated, irritated and unfulfilled. HUMPH.

You will notice from the image I found that there are six installments to this series. On another note, who doesnt put the names of the other books on one of the front pages, I mean, how are we meant to know what comes before or next…not smart on the part of the publisher. I do not think I will be making any extra effort to locate the rest of this series.

So until I am able to read the other novellas I am rating this book 3/5.

Bun in the oven

Just over a year ago, we were blessed with a bouncing baby bundle of joy. All I could say was thank goodness he popped into the world… Pregnancy did NOT agree with me. The little guy was super busy when ever I tried to sleep – tried being the word to focus on – the little dude thought it was a danceparty. Apparently when I was moving I would lull him to sleep and then surprise surprise, when I decided to rest…it was soccer time in mommys’ tummy. He was breach (bum down) for the whole pregnancy, so Mr decided to sit on a nerve for the last 3months of the pregnancy. Which meant that I was on bed rest, sounds better than it is…because of the constant need to pee. Have you ever tried to get up every 30mins while you have a pinched nerve…not fun.

I have to admit I thought I was prepared to be a new mom, oh boy was I wrong…

Who would have thought there is more than one way to burp a baby? I didn’t…

Feeding: Mason was like a piranha I soon realised the cream I had was not going to cut it. So I splurged and I spent a little extra on the ointment, and I don’t regret it, breastfeeding is flippen sore. I can say without a doubt that ointment is the best, and it literally saved my nips. Anything with lanolin in works well, and apply often… Don’t be shy apply liberally.

Changing his nappy, well I changed it often, everyone says pee doesn’t burn a babies bum… But I didn’t want to take the chance (nappy rashes are not fun). Yes, a nappy can be too loose or too tight, and both things can result in a mess and an uncomfortable crying baby. So long as you fit 2 fingers between the nappy and the baby, it is just tight enough. Also, keep a nappy under a baby the whole time you are changing…I can tell you horror stories because we didnt…and newborn baby poop stains.

Baby monitors, well, this is important and I wish I had actually researched this better. I mean snuza, hello! I so wanted one, but I was delayed I can honestly say not my finest mom moment. Anyway, by the time I discovered the Snuza, Mason was already in the rolling while he sleeps phase and he is a busy sleeper, so much so that he snuza wouldn’t have worked properly(by possibly falling off). We went with the angel care and a separate video monitor, the new model of angel care hadn’t been released yet (which had a video monitor as well). I don’t regret buying it, at all. It definitely helped me sleep better at night. I was the creepy mom who got upevery half an hour to check that he was still breathing.

To all those people who gave the stupid advice of sleep while you can, while you are 8 months pregnant, go suck a melon…you try finding a comfortable position while the size of a hippo and being kick by your bundle of joy. Good luck trying to sleep….incidentally the other half had no problem sleeping…ass.

Everyday I cannot help but look at the little guy and think in wonderment I cannot believe I made such a gorgeous kid or in exasperation what a flippen assh*ole, I cannot believe i made this.

All I can say is stuff everyones advice, what the heck do they know…except where bathing them is concerned, that sh*t I outsourced for the first 3 months. LOL.

Until next time, xoxo

Burberry prep series – CM Stunich

Burberry prep series by CM Stunich

Book 1: Filthy Rich Boys

Book 2: Bad bad blue bloods

Book 3: The envy of idols

Book 4: in the arms of elite

When I started reading the Burberry prep series, I couldn’t imagine how it would have ended, so I will start there. The ending of book four was unfulfilling, that being said, I don’t regret reading the series. This author has a unique talent to end books in unforeseeable cliffhangers and I waited in anticipation for each new installment. The weak ending did not over shadow the authors writing overall.

I have read rumors that there will be a release of a university series as a follow on to this one.

A couple of concerns from my side, how on earth 5 guys don’t get raging, war cry crazy over the woman they love…they are just OK with it…so I have to call b*llsh*t on that. It definitely speaks to female audiences, I mean who would not want 5 super hot, Rich guys fawning over you??

Strong female lead in the book, clearly with some seriously potent feromones, but with a moral compass, which makes you want to respect her.

Also, the female lead being so forgiving… I don’t know how true that is unless you are head over heels in love, which she wasn’t at the time. So that was also a bit of a head scratcher for me.

Somehow Stunich, pulls it off to be somewhat believably, and you can’t help yourself…you just keep reading, to see what happens next

I would give the series as a whole 3.5/5 rating. – because of book#4 weak ending.

Brayshaw high series – Meagan Brandy

I read this book not to long ago, it left an impression, in that I am keeping my eyes open for the release of the third installment.

The female protagonist Raven Carver, is gutsy, in your face and yet down to earth and uaware of her effect on those around, which I like, and it reads really well.

I have to admit that while it was hard for me to accept the ‘power’ that the 3 young gents hold, the book was written well enough that I could over look my preconceptions.

Meagan Brandy was able to keep me guessing, and keep me entertained enough to keep reading, and I never would have guessed the plot twist. – Bravo to Meagan Brandy for keeping this so under wraps, but also hinting at it at various points in the books.

I would definitely be open to rereading the series, which is high praise from me.

Meagan Brandy has officially become on of my go to authors, and I have been on the lookout for any other releases by this author.

I rate book 1 and book 2 of the brayshaw high a solid 4.2.

Secret Girl – CM Stunich

I have been enjoying reading CM Stunichs books, to the point where I have searched for them, which is how I found Secret Girl: Adamson All boys Academy.
The book is as its title suggests, about a girl who is trying to keep her identity secret.
I rather enjoyed the ‘thriller’ vibe that the book had, it was not expected. The other books that I have read from the author this is the first one that has had that suspenseful thriller feeling to it.
Initially I was not a huge fan of the bully/reverse harem category, that was something I had to look past, before I even started reading. That said, once I started…strong female figure, who doesnt back down…role model for young ladies, middle aged ladies, heck just a female role model so far out of the norm, that you realise…maybe we dont have to be what society has expected women to be.
I enjoyed the book and finished it within 3 hours, high praise, as I am a mom…so as you can imagine this was a page turner.
And as I have come to expect from the author, book 1 of the Adamson boys academy finished with a major cliffhangar.
I rate Book 1 of this series a 4/5.
